EfVET attended BEDA Design Forum 2025 in Brussels

The past 15th of May, EfVET attended BEDA Design Forum, which was themed “Design for Sustainable Growth and Prosperity”, addressing that design has the power to strengthen democracy, drive innovation, and shape a more sustainable future.

The event was opened by Christina Melander, President of BEDA – The Bureau of European Design Associations, who highlighted that “when the EU talks about our ability to compete, design is often forgotten”. She also introduced The Bureau of European Design Associations and the rest of the speakers.

The first panel, moderated by Mark Illi, VP of BEDA, featured keynote speakers Fabio Babiloni from the Sapienza Universitá di Roma, who talked about the science behind upskilling, and Claudia Siebenweiber (BDG Berufsverband Kommunikationsdesign) who shared her experience in peer-to-peer learning in Vocational Education.

The second panel, focused on Empowering Design for an impact, was a panel discussion between Prof. Regina Hanke, BEDA Secretary, Mark Illi, Vice-President BEDA, and Piotr Swiatek, BEDA Treasurer. They shared three key projects that are part of “MADres”, a strategic initiative that advances design as a key enable of Europe’s digital, green and social transitions.
